Foraging Site: Everywhere around the roads and field edges, parks

Patience required: *

Most of us have busy lives so a lot of cooking baking is just not on. So this recipe is quick shop bough alteration. Of course if you have time you can make your own dough

You will need

  • Hawthorn jam (previously made)
  • Cheap store bought ready to use twister mixture

To do

  • 1) Prepare the twister according the instructions on the tin, but dont use the shop suggested filler
  • 2) When instructed to insert the filler, use Hawthorne jam instead. The jam is sticky and goes really well with the twister. Be prepared to get sticky too as you try to cut the rolled dough with filling into stripes forming individual twisters.
  • 3) Scatter the jam that has escaped onto the twisters once on the baking tray
  • 4) Bake until golden brown and lovely fluffed up with the crystalized jam glistening on the surface
  • 5) Try to share these with your loved ones if you can resist not eating them all by the time you put them on the plates.

Whether you’re a seasoned baker or just looking for something fresh and exciting, this twist on tradition will quickly become a favorite.

Now is the time to regret that you have not collected more of those juicy berries, but there is always another season.
