6th July 2024

Weather has been on our side again. not too hot, not too cold so we had a fantastic time. This time foraging around Urban Forest park in Coalville.
Smaller group than usual which meant everyone really got chancer to get fully involved.
We have collected our own samples from the high growing plants and even made our own refreshing tea.
This time we have tasted lovely dandelion jelly and everyone was licking their fingers. Kids could have eaten lot more but to do so they will have to forage for their own.
Running foraging course in this park comes with extra benefits as there are kids’ slides and climbs so they can always run off for a bit to play while we continue with the adults, kids staying in sight and joining us moments later.
I am always so impressed with the young generation, how much they can take in when seemly doing 100 things at a time all the time. And yet again, the kids in this group have taken in so much.
We have also seen with our own eyes one of the most poisonous plants in the UK, comparing it with other from the same family, pointing out the dangerous side of foraging.
We often paused to learn about interesting historical facts and long-lost traditions. Kids and adults loved it. What a great day and how many new fellow foragers in the community.
In conclusion, our Family Foraging Course Event was a resounding success, filled with laughter, lots of sampling and learning new skills.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who joined us on this unforgettable journey.
