Summer FORAGING COURSE (Adults Only) Loughborough 30th August 2026

As summer arrives, Charnwood’s woods and meadows offer a wide range of edible and medicinal plants, trees, and fungi. Join us for a relaxed and informative Summer Foraging Course, focused on what’s in season and how to identify and use it safely.

What to Expect

Summer is a time of abundance. Depending on conditions, we may see mushrooms after rain, while warm weather brings ripe berries, fresh herbs, and flowering plants. We’ll explore what’s available on the day, covering identification, traditional uses, and sustainable foraging practices.

You won’t be collecting food to eat during the session. Instead, we provide fresh, pre-prepared samples to smell, examine, and taste, so you can focus on learning. You’ll also enjoy a range of foraged food and drink samples prepared in advance, such as cordials, syrups, jams, wines, chocolates, and other seasonal treats.

What You’ll Learn

• Safe, ethical, and sustainable foraging

• Laws and permissions around wild harvesting

• How to identify edible species and avoid toxic lookalikes

• Simple ideas for using and preserving wild foods

The focus is on building knowledge and confidence rather than collecting.

Who It’s For

Suitable for beginners and those with a general interest in food and nature. No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and appropriate outdoor clothing.
