As autumn arrives, Charnwood’s woodlands and hedgerows offer some of the best foraging of the year. Join us for a relaxed and informative Autumn Foraging Course, with a strong focus on seasonal mushrooms when conditions allow, alongside edible and medicinal plants and trees.

What to Expect

Autumn is prime mushroom season, and if conditions are right we’ll spend time learning how to identify a range of fungi in the wild. Our location also supports a good variety of plants, seeds, berries, and roots, so you can expect a balanced mix of both plant and mushroom learning.

If recent rainfall hasn’t produced many mushrooms on the day, we’ll bring fresh mushroom specimens to the course to support identification and learning. This ensures you still gain valuable fungi knowledge regardless of weather conditions.

As with all our courses, you won’t be collecting food to eat during the session. Instead, we provide fresh, pre-prepared samples to examine, smell, and taste. You’ll also enjoy a generous selection of foraged food and drink samples made from the previous foraging seasons, including preserves, cordials, syrups, wines, chocolates, and other wild-inspired treats.
